Use the theme of 'paper' to design awards creative
Use the theme of 'paper' to design awards creative
Challenge
When working with the team at the Australasian Catalogue Awards, the brief was to develop a campaign that avoided the usual tropes one might expect around catalogues. Instead it was requested that we utilise paper to graphically convey the benefits of catalogues in a clear and concise fashion.
Solution
I developed a concept that was based around origami, knowing it would enable me to illustrate all facets of the awards in a bold, distinct and fun way, whilst still having a strong connection to paper and craftsmanship.
The creative was rolled out across a wide range of collateral, this included a double sided fold up call for entries/poster, the tickets for the evening, and the all important winners book.
For each element the animals were carefully matched up; snails represented home, peacocks lived fashion and jaguars embodied excellence in craft. And of course Pegasus was the perfect aspirational hero. Strong colourways, bold typography and an adjustable framing device were designed to strengthen the graphic nature of the campaign.
ASSOCIATED PROJECT
SBM Group ACA congratulatory ad
As I was designing the winners’ book itself, I had the opportunity to carefully tie in SBM’s congratulatory ad. Using the same menagerie of animals, I created a designed that evoked celebration and diversity whilst also alluding to the 5 members of the SBM family.
