Develop the UX and UI for an app that allows children and their parents track exercise for the Premier's Sporting Challenge

Challenge

Every year the NSW Department of Education run the Premier’s Sporting Challenge, designed to get kids active everyday. When they decided to develop an app to streamline the recording process, they wanted to ensure it was easy to use and on brand.

Solution

I worked on refining the UX and developing the UI for the app, ensuring it was modern, easy to use and appealing to the target audience. For the general look and feel we wanted simplicity and freshness, using the bright Department of Education brand colours, but balancing them with clean whites and pale greys. The wireframes and navigation were developed with SAAS, IT software specialists, and were designed to be intuitive for both children and parents.

For the hero image, displayed while the app is loading, I aimed for a design that included real local kids and conveyed variety, excitement and engagement. This design was then used in other supporting promotional materials such as certificates and newsletters.
