Design a new visual identity and website for an established company
Challenge
The team from Horizon Print Management came to Point for brand development and a website overhaul. They were after a visual identity that was distinctive and graphic, yet still conveyed the essence of the industry. All collateral produced was to be focussed on function as much as form.
Solution
I wanted the cornerstone of all aspects of the brand to be striking imagery – visuals that would convey print in an unusual way. I sourced images of ink in water, then retouched them to be bold, dynamic and colourful, blending with typography in a playful and engaging way. To counter the free forms of the ink I decided on typography that was sharp and no-nonsense. The redesigned logo followed suit.
The client requested that the website be a single scrolling page. When developing the sitemap I broke the content down into the 6 key ways Horizon do more than just put ink on paper. This gave clear structure to the site, and I was able to further develop the creative around this.
When it came to directing the roll out the creative to printed collateral , I decided not to restrict Horizon to just one set of stationery. We created templates for each item, that were populated with different variations of the ink imagery, creating a bespoke collection that conveyed diversity and quality.
