Create two lookbooks that embody the dark style of the fashion house
Create two lookbooks that embody the dark style of the fashion house
Challenge
I worked with Morris Janks, a ready to wear luxury fashion house, on two lookbooks showcasing their collection. The brand has a self-proclaimed ‘certain disturbed beauty’ which they wanted to ensure was captured through imagery and design.
Solution
When approaching the creative I decided that the bird skull inspired logo would be a distinct starting point for the creative; a combination of delicacy and darkness that echoed their fashion and would translate well to design and imagery.
The decision was always clear to keep the overall design relatively clean, allowing the clothes themselves to be the hero. I kept to a minimal black and white colour palette, weaving through supporting quotes, icons and illustration. The pages of the bound books were then edge painted black.
For the illustrations I played on the dark yet beautiful ethos inherent in their brand, incorporating both hands-on sculpture and photography.
I also got to make a bird ‘skeleton’ out of sticks. That was cool.
