Create branding, packaging and an exhibition stand for Australia's newest puzzle

Create branding, packaging and an exhibition stand for Australia's newest puzzle

Challenge

The Slida team approached us with a product (and a logo), looking for an agency to help them with the next step. While the appropriate players started building project plans and making phone calls, I got on to branding – via a detour to product refinement.

Solution

While Slida was fun and challenging from the off, the initial run was rolled out with standard colours – red, yellow, dark blue and forest green. The Slida team were on board when I suggested a refresh – 8 bright vibrant colours that could be sold whole or pre-mixed.

For the branding itself I knew that I wanted to convey a sense of ‘the slide’, so I developed an interlocking graphic that would then rotate in multiple directions and create a series of abstract shapes. These were the cornerstone of the brand and were used on all graphics. The new colourways of the puzzle were activated in the branding, and for call out copy I created the bespoke Slida font, giving further distinction to the brand.

Once the style guide was complete, branding was rolled out to packaging, stationery and promotional materials to support the launch of Slida at a series of international toy fairs.

EXHIBITION STAND

When Slida hit the road, heading to industry-leading toy fairs in New York, London and Australia, we (I worked with Creative Studio Manager Yvette Mahon) designed them an adaptable exhibition stand, designed to work equally well in each space.

For the stand we wanted something that was eye catching and fun, engaging the Slida spirit. The four segments that they wanted to highlight led to the development of the framing device, each holding a different type of Slida prototype, while the table in the middle allowed guests to try the puzzle out for themselves. The elevated inflatable Slida was the (almost literal) cherry on the top.
